The deputies of the National Assembly (AN) who make up the Friendship Group with the European Union (EU) held the second meeting this Tuesday, April 14, to continue designing proposals for rapprochement with the bloc. On this occasion, Jorge Valero, representative of Venezuela to the EU, accompanied this meeting.

The vice-president of the parliamentary group, deputy Ilenia Medina, stressed that the work agenda with the EU seeks to promote peace and political equality, highlighting Venezuela as a zone of peace in the region.

In the same way, the president of this body, parliamentarian Jorge Arreaza, agreed on this proposal and, in addition, ruled that national union and peace “is a need to work with the world”.

He said that this work project of the friendship group with the European Union will be distributed to all members of the organization and to the other groups of the AN so that they can give their contributions and evaluations.

For his part, the representative of Venezuela to the EU, Jorge Valero, asserted that there are good conditions for maintaining relations with the EU. He also indicated that Europe's interest in America has increased in a positive way.

To conclude the meeting, Deputy Jorge Arreaza stated that Venezuela is open to international investment. “If there is one thing that Venezuela needs right now, it's investments,” he ratified.

Arreaza confirmed that there are currently positive spaces to generate cooperative relations with the European Union, an opportunity for parliamentary, political and diplomatic union.
