By the month of May, the partial reform of the Law on the Promotion and Protection of Breastfeeding, developed by the Standing Committee on Families, Freedom of Religion and Worship of the National Assembly, will be completed.

The information was released by the first vice-president of the commission, Deputy María Rosa Jiménez, who added that, once completed, it will be handed over to Parliament for its second discussion, since it was approved in a first debate.

Jiménez, in a review of the VTV portal, explained that this reform will not eliminate existing benefits, but rather that it takes care of the principles and benefits guaranteed by this law. In addition, it will reinforce the promotion of a culture in society that defends breastfeeding.

The reform works on four pillars: legal protection, promotion of breastfeeding, support (infrastructure and resources) and support for nursing mothers to maintain the benefits of the law.

The president of the Family Commission, Deputy Jorge Arreaza, received the arguments and proposals of the reform, and stressed that this legal instrument is essential for the protection of the home and infants.

On the other hand, the Commission made a report by the work teams that design the Family Code. Arreaza urged us to consider the LOPPNA and to evaluate the points that must be codified for the protection of the family.
