The Minister of Productive Agriculture and Lands, Julio León Heredia, reported that this Sunday, January 11, a total of 46,629 main spokespersons of the three commissions that make up the Peasant Councils, will choose their spokesperson at the municipal level.
During his participation in a special program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), he highlighted that, before this activity, more than 30,000 meetings were held throughout the national territory, in which the “organized peasant people made their electoral roll and carried out a secret vote and three commissions were elected: organization and formation, productive economy and territorial defense”.
He also stated that with these actions, it was possible to consolidate 15,543 Peasant Councils, “where in each of them 30 principals and 30 alternates were elected; we are talking about a figure of 46,629 spokespersons and spokespersons.”
He announced that in the coming weeks they will have the opportunity to choose state spokespersons “through a great meeting that we are going to bring here in Caracas.”
Léon Heredia highlighted that the state organization, which would be 75 spokespersons, will select “the three national spokespersons, for the Organization and Training Commission, the Productive Economy Commission and the Territorial Defense Commission at the national level with their respective alternate.”
He pointed out that the Peasant Councils are aimed at producing and defending the territory to promote national sovereignty; he added that they are integrated into the country's communities.
He also assured that Venezuela maintains an increase in food production for the national supply, and has an export quality that promotes new alliances.
