Since 2002 and to date, Venezuela has continued to wage a historic battle for the management of our natural resources, said Pedro Infante, the vice-president of the organization of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

“In 2001, the enabling laws were approved, of which three had to do with the economic issue, fishing, land and hydrocarbons. Later, Commander Chávez began a process of oil nationalization based on that Hydrocarbons Law in the year 2006 - 2007. When you review the conflict with Exxon Mobil, you see that it has roots in the application of that Law. In other words, we have been fighting a historic battle for the sovereign and independent management of our resources,” said the also first vice-president of the National Assembly during his participation in the podcast Sin Truco Ni Maña.

In this regard, the deputy and host of this space, Tania Díaz, recalled how, in this context, in 2002 the business community supported by transnationals staged a coup d'etat against President Chávez.
