Inhabitants of Brazil staged a national day of mobilizations, in repudiation of aggression and in defense of Venezuelan sovereignty and in rejection of the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro together with First Lady Cilia Flores.

The initiative came from political, trade union and social sectors, who denounced the Washington operation as an open violation of international law. In Belo Horizonte, capital of the state of Minas Gerais, the main rally is scheduled for 16:30 (local time) at Praça Sete, organized by the Workers' Party (PT), the Central Unitary Workers (CUT) and various social movements.

Federal deputy Rogério Correia, one of the sponsors of the call, confirmed that the protests will be replicated in other capitals of the country as a sign of international solidarity with the Venezuelan people.

Through social networks, he described the US operation as an “act of terrorism” and denounced the “kidnapping of Maduro and the first lady”. Correia warned that the response cannot be limited to a single country and called for a global reaction to the escalation of US interventionism, international press reported.
