This Tuesday, leaders and representatives of the transport unions of Lima, Peru and the town of Callao agreed on Monday night to suspend the transportation strike after reaching a series of agreements with the government of Dina Boluarte.

According to detailed information from Telesur, the meeting at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) lasted three hours, after which the director of the International Chamber of Transport, Martín Ojeda, was responsible for announcing the agreements with the Executive.

The president of the Council of Ministers, Eduardo Arana, said that the heads of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Transport and Communications were also present at this meeting with the carriers.

The Peruvian government is committed to providing support to drivers, debt collectors and relatives of victims who have left behind the latest assaults by assassins. However, the document does not provide further details on this point.

Among the agreements are the installation of a working table for next Tuesday, October 14, with the participation of the PCM and other public entities to address the problem of extortion affecting carriers.
