President Gustavo Petro questioned President Donald Trump's decision to close airspace over Venezuela, stating that this measure violates fundamental principles of sovereignty and international law.

From the social network X, he wrote: “I want to know, under what rule of international law can a president of a country close airspace to another nation?”

In that sense, he added, “if that exists, excuse my boldness, but if it doesn't exist and the ICAO is failing right now, I tell the world that a national airspace cannot be closed by a foreign president or the concept of national sovereignty and the concept of “international law” have ended. I speak as president of CELAC and of the Republic of Colombia.”
