“Shame on the rulers and parliamentarians of Europe and the United States (USA) who, with their silence, are complicit in the Palestinian genocide. From Latin America, we build reason, poetry, democracy and social justice,” Colombian President Gustavo Petro wrote through the social network X

The head of state once again compared the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, with the leader of Nazi Germany, Adolf Hitler. “Be ashamed to support a Hitler,” he said, addressing European and American leaders.

Petro reacted to a resolution issued by the European Parliament (EP) in which MEPs denounced what they called political violence in Colombia following the assassination of Senator Miguel Uribe Turbay on June 7 in an armed attack during a political event in western Bogotá.

The resolution held the Petro government responsible for the alleged political polarization in Colombia, while Petro rejected the accusation, blaming international mafias for the crime.

In his publication in X, Petro said that Europe lacks the moral authority to teach democracy to Colombia, stressing that “now Latin America teaches democracy (to European States).”

“Gentlemen of the European right, you have the largest mass grave in the world, where the word Democracy was written in Greek, is the Mediterranean Sea, where thousands of drowned immigrants lie,” stressed the Colombian president.
