Pope Francis was hospitalized this Friday with a picture of bronchitis, according to information issued by the Vatican.
The publication, replicated on the Venezolana de Televisión (VTV) web portal, states that the decision to be hospitalized is due to the need to perform several medical tests in order to perform treatment.
“This morning, at the end of his hearings, Pope Francis was admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic to undergo some necessary diagnostic tests and continue his treatment for bronchitis, which is still ongoing, in a hospital environment,” the Holy See statement said.
His Holiness had already announced his diagnosis in recent days, when during his general audience at the Vatican, he asked a priest to continue reading his message, stating: “Let me ask the father to continue reading because I can't handle my bronchitis yet. I hope next time I can.”
