Pope Leo XIV, through the social network X, expressed his regret at the serious situation of the Palestinian people in Gaza, in the context of the extermination carried out by Israeli Zionism since 2023.
“I express my deep closeness to the Palestinian people of Gaza, who continue to live in fear and who survive in unacceptable conditions, forced by force to move once again from their own lands,” wrote the first authority of the Vatican, adding that “before the Omnipotent Lord”, who has commanded “you shall not kill” and before human history, every person always has an inviolable dignity that must be respected and safeguarded.”
Finally, Pope Leo XIV reiterated his call for a ceasefire “the release of hostages, for a negotiated diplomatic solution and for full respect for international humanitarian law. I invite everyone to join in my heartfelt prayer that a dawn of peace and justice may soon emerge.”
