President Gustavo Petro arrives in Honduras for the CELAC summit

The Colombian
president, Gustavo Petro, will arrive this Thursday morning in the
capital of Honduras to participate in an extraordinary summit on
migration of the Community of American and Caribbean States (CELAC), the Honduran Foreign Ministry confirmed
.
“We have been in communication with the Colombian Foreign Ministry (...) the
intention is that President Petro may be entering national territory
early on Thursday to attend the meeting,” said Deputy
Foreign Minister Gerardo Torres, quoted by the Sputnik agency .
The official explained in statements to state channel 8 that the foreign minister,
Enrique Reina, has been in contact with his Colombian counterpart, Luis Gilberto
Murillo, to coordinate Petro's visit to Tegucigalpa .
The summit was urgently convened last Sunday, the 26th, by the
president of Honduras and Pro Tempore of CELAC, Xiomara Castro, with the
purpose of analyzing three issues: migration, the environment and Latin American and Caribbean unity.
