The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, explained this Wednesday the parameters followed in the process of freeing persons deprived of their liberty initiated by President Nicolás Maduro last December.

Speaking to national and international media, from the Miraflores Palace, Rodríguez recalled that this process was led by the Head of State, “thinking precisely of opening spaces for understanding, for coexistence, for tolerance”.

In this regard, after a meeting with the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, and the Sectorial Vice President for Policy, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, he reported that the process remains open.

“This is precisely what we have been coordinating with the Justice System in Venezuela, with the justice organs in Venezuela. This process has had parameters that have been met, and people who have committed serious crimes against the person, such as homicide, are excluded. The crime of drug trafficking is excluded,” he said.

In this regard, he stressed that “crimes related to the constitutional order, crimes related to hate, violence and intolerance are being evaluated. The objective is to open up political spaces,” he emphasized.
