The President in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, stated that it is necessary to review the country's Mining Law, which needs to be updated so that it can lead to “comprehensive development for the happiness of our people.”

He indicated that “the Creole economy has shifted towards a productive and non-rentier economy, dependent on oil revenues, and strengthening the capacities that Venezuela has in its different sectors.”

He added that “today we agree with some lines brought by the Venezuelan parliament and we want to add specific laws, including the mining law, which needs to be updated to attract national and international investment and that can develop Venezuela's immense reserves in gold, bauxite, diamonds, minerals, rare earths.”

He added that “we are not thinking about enriching an elite, but about bringing happiness to the people, especially the most vulnerable who have been victims of the criminal economic blockade (...) We are thinking about how the economy becomes an engine of national development and of our people.”
