Seven of the 10 candidates who will be measured in the presidential elections on July 28 signed, together with the authorities of the National Electoral Council (CNE), an agreement to recognize the results of the upcoming elections.

Among the signatories, the opposition candidates Luis Eduardo Martínez, Daniel Ceballos, Antonio Ecarri, Benjamín Rauseo, José Brito, Cladio Fermín and Javier Bertucci stood out. Also, the standard-bearer of the Revolution, Nicolás Maduro, signed the agreement.

Meanwhile, the candidates of the extreme right, Edmundo González and Enrique Márquez, did not sign this important agreement for peace and democracy.

For the Electoral Power, they signed its president Elvis Amoroso; the vice-president, Carlos Quintero; the rectors Rosalba Gil, Aime Nogal and Juan Carlos del Pino.

In the above-mentioned agreement, read by the president of the Electoral Power, Elvis Amoroso, the candidates for the Head of State undertook, among other things, to recognize the CNE as the only legitimate and competent authority for holding the elections of 28-J.

They also agreed to validate the results issued by the CNE, respecting the perfect expression of popular will through suffrage and in accordance with the provisions of the Barbados agreements.

They also agreed to stay away from acts of violence and destabilization that threaten the country. They also demand that the countries of the world respect the sovereignty and self-determination of Venezuela.

“They commit to fulfilling their duty to honor and defend the Homeland, while demanding the absolute lifting of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the noble people of Venezuela,” the agreement reads.
