On the occasion of the 57th anniversary of the vile assassination of the defender of civil and African American rights, Martin Luther King, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, made a call to fly the flags of this man who dedicated his life to the fight against discrimination and racism.
“We carry Martin Luther King, the great pastor of truth, justice, equality and peace, in our hearts, and we deeply admire his fight, through peaceful resistance, against discrimination, racism and for the civil rights of the African-American people of the United States (...) We must fly the flags of Martin Luther King and never let them fall again,” he said through his Telegram channel.
In this sense, he emphasized that today, when neofascism insists on imposing itself on the world, Martin Luther King's message must be kept in mind.
“How much we need the message, the strength and the energy of this great martyr! Today, on the 57th anniversary of their vile assassination, from Venezuela we accompany Americans in their demands for equality, the right to life, and we reject the criminal actions of supremacists and neofascists,” he said.
