This Saturday, March 08, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that Chávez was “the great defender of women”
At the inauguration of the Walk of the Heroines of Resistance and Independence on the Paseo Monumental de los Próceres, in Fuerte Tiuna, he indicated that this space pays homage to women who, from the colonial era to the independence struggle, played a fundamental role in the defense of freedom, justice and the dignity of their peoples.
“If we talk about icons at special moments in the vindication of the concept in its pure, vital and transformative exception, we have to tell the truth, because we have to say that in this land of Venezuela, in this land of America and the Caribbean, it was our beloved Supreme Commander Hugo Rafael Chávez Fría who placed the flag of 21st century feminism,” she said.
In that sense, he asserted that the one who put women in charge of building the new society was Chávez. “That's the truth, burn to whoever burns!” , he stressed.
