President Maduro: Council of State and Defense of the Nation was convened to stop extreme right wing violence

This Monday, August 12, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the Council of State and Defense of the Nation has always been convened to attend historic events and to preserve the peace and stability of the Homeland.

“Two bodies created by the Constituent Assembly of 1999 and that have played an important role over the years, to attend to different historical moments that we have experienced and faced,” he said.

In this regard, during the meeting with the Council of State and the Council for the Defense of the Nation, he recalled that he was currently convened to neutralize the violent escalation with which the fascist extreme right sector intended to take power.

He pointed out that the actions of the extreme right had as their main elements the attack on society. “A form that has been known in Venezuela since 2004, 2014 and 2017, repetitive of the extreme right groups that are known as guarimbas,” he said.

He stressed that the current assault on the People by the extreme right had a more criminal nature unlike previous years. “And this has been revealed by investigations and elements of public conviction, notorious communications and the confessions of their material authors and of some of their financiers and intellectual authors,” he said.
