The president of
the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said this Friday that
the former candidate of the extreme opposition, Edmundo González Urrutia, is “a puppet tied up by the fugitive from terrorist justice
María Machado.”
“The document signed by 8 of the 10
presidential candidates on June 20 of this year is public,
notorious and communicational. The Electoral Power, using its constitutional
powers, summoned the 10 candidates, officially convened them.
Mr. Edmundo González Urrutia confirmed that he was going to go and at the last
minute someone called, the terrorist fugitive from justice María Machado
called and banned him from going because you know that this man is unfortunately a puppet, a
puppet of fascism, he is not in charge, he cannot make his own decisions”.
After appearing
before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Maduro pointed out that
González Urrutia does not know the Electoral Power, but “this is hidden by
international media and networks. What would have happened if Nicolás Maduro Moros, a
candidate, does not know the CNE and says he will not sign the document recognizing elections?
It would have been great news, foreign ministries from different
countries would have released press releases,” he criticized.
He indicated that
González Urrutia did not sign because “they gave him an order, they put a check on him
and they told him you're not going there, he's a puppet, a weakling and a coward, he wasn
't on June 20, 38 days before the elections. On July 18, the main
spokesperson of the Campaign Command of the extreme right in Venezuela declared
that they will not accept the results of the CNE, that they will only accept the
results of what they call their minutes, 10 days before the elections they
said so (...) And now then this man is hiding who knows where and refuses
to comply with a judicial summons made by the highest Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice in electoral matters”
, he added.
