This Tuesday, October 14, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, handed over the presidential residence “La Viñeta”, located in Fort Tiuna, for the operation of the Great Mission of Grandparents and Grandmothers of the Fatherland, in order to provide care and leisure to older adults.

He also stressed that “we must accelerate the establishment of Grandparents' and Grandmothers' Houses throughout the country. Take an offensive because there are 10 weeks left this year, and we must take advantage of them to inaugurate these houses in all municipalities.”

He commented that in the gardens of the presidential residence “La Viñeta”, “courts for exercise and rest have been arranged. We must also organize a Grandparents' Circle here in Los Próceres, which can be called Ayacucho, like the Plaza”.

Older adults will receive a healthy, balanced diet and hydration. They will also be able to share with each other, do exercises, read, study, play dominoes and watch movies, as all families do.

“The Grandfather's House is one of the most humane and beautiful things we are doing and we must multiply it by hundreds, by thousands,” said President Maduro.

During the tour of the space, adapted for its new use, the head of state was accompanied by the First Combatant, Cilia Flores, and the Minister for Adults and Older Adults, Grandparents and Grandmothers, Magally Viña.
