President Maduro: I have always been moved by the spirit of fighting for the country

Nicolás Maduro, re-elected president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, assured that he has always been moved by the spirit of fighting for the country and his only aspiration in life was “to be a soldier on the battlefield that Chávez placed for him.”

“One day Commander Chávez told me: Nicolás, if circumstances change and he were unable to continue to lead the presidency, now it's your turn (...) And I swear that I will protect the people of Venezuela,” he said.

The re-elected Head of State added that “I have been loyal at the cost of sacrifices and my own life. In this new mandate that you have given me and that you have given to yourselves, I swear that I will give my whole life to carry out all the changes and transformations that our country needs to take a path towards the destiny of prosperity, to rescue all the rights violated by economic war and imperialist missiles.”
