The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, urged the Government of the United States (USA) to immediately lift the illegal economic blockade imposed against Cuba for more than 70 years, praising the humanitarian aid sent by the Bolivarian nation to the island, affected by the passage of hurricane Melissa.

During the closing of the 1st International Space Congress “A Shared Future”, from the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, the head of state stressed that “the best help is that they lift the entire economic blockade against Cuba, that they lift all measures of economic persecution against Cuba. That is the best help the United States government can give to our sister Cuba.”

He recalled that this Wednesday the blockade imposed against the Caribbean country was rejected once again before the United Nations (UN). “165 votes in favor, the whole of humanity voted to stop torture against the economic and social body of Cuba,” he said.

In this regard, he reiterated that “if the United States Government wants to help Cuba, as Marco Rubio (Secretary of State) said today, lift all measures today and you will see that it is the best historical aid for a heroic and patriotic people. Meanwhile, CONVIASA arrived there with the help,” he emphasized.
