The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled that 18 years ago, thanks to the proposal of Commander Hugo Chávez before the National Assembly (AN), the inclusion of the eighth star in the flag was approved.
“Today in our National Tricolor, the star of Angostura shines with its cry of sovereignty, of the glory of Saint Felix and of the union for the Essequibo. Long live our historical identity!” , expressed through the social network X.
Commander Chávez requested before the AN the amendment to the National Symbols Act, in order to include an eighth star in the National Pavilion, complying with the order of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, of November 20, 1817, who recognized with this star the role of the Province of Guiana in the liberation process of Venezuela and the continent.
