The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, maintained that Venezuela, despite the coup against the Government of Commander Hugo Chávez in April 2002 and all the obstacles and aggressions on the part of North American imperialism, “22 years later here we are, standing, looking for the best paths of the Fatherland, seeking to deepen democracy and freedom, seeking from the affirmative Venezuelan.”

This was stated in the editorial of the 40th edition of the program “With Maduro+”, where he expressed his desire that “from our identity and the profound being of Venezuela, he may point out the paths of the future”.

He recalled that at that time “we lived in danger, we lived in a coup, that we had to live it, 22 years already, says a tango that 20 years is nothing and it seems like 22 neither”.

The head of state, giving a brief account of the events of April 2002, specified that April 11 was “one of moral eclipse, of political eclipse; on April 12, it was the dissolution of the powers and on the 13th, of joint and spontaneous popular-military insurrection, almost telepathic and on the 14th, the Sunday of the resurrection of the Constitution, of the legitimate powers of the country”.

He stated that that week in 2002, “is truly for history.”
