In the presentation of his annual message to the nation this Wednesday, January 15, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, signed the decree creating the Commission for Constitutional Reform.

For his experience as a jurist, as a defender of Human Rights, as a constituent who drafted the constitution, as the youngest member of Commander Hugo Chávez's presidential commission in 1998-1999 to draft the Constitution. He is morally, ethically qualified, has the knowledge and will do a great job. I congratulate him,” he said.

The Head of State added that he will be accompanied by a first nucleus by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, Dr. Hermán Escarrà and the jurist doctor and first combatant Cilia Flores. “A secretariat to start the process (...) All sectors will be convened.”

President Maduro added that “we are going to seek three elements: the aspiration for democracy and the construction of the new State, that is, to define the profile of the society we want and lay the clearest foundations for the new self-sustainable economy that is not dependent, diversified and produces wealth that meets the needs of the Venezuelan people and that opens the doors to a powerful export vocation”.
