President Maduro thanked Pope Leo XIV and Lula for defending peace and calling for an end to threats in the Caribbean

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, thanked the recent pronouncements made by Pope Leo XIV and his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in rejection of the military threats of the United States against Venezuela and the defense of Latin America as a zone of peace.
During his speech at the Plenary of the V Extraordinary Congress of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and IV of the Youth of the Red Awning (JPSUV), the head of state stressed the importance of joining efforts in the world to maintain Latin America as a zone of peace.
“I want to thank the statement of Pope Leo, Vicar of Christ, head of the Catholic Church, who called for dialogue between the United States of Venezuela to seek solutions and to defend and preserve peace. Thank you Father Lion!” , he said.
Also, with reference to the position taken by the Brazilian president, highlighting Lula da Silva's forcefulness in defending regional peace, while reiterating his approval of the statement issued by the United Nations Group of Experts regarding the rejection of the threat of aggression by the United States against Venezuela and the region.
“I thank the United Nations Office of Human Rights Experts, which has just made a tremendous statement against the threats of the use of military force against Venezuela.”
