President Maduro thanks China for firmly rejecting the dispossession of CITGO by the United States

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, thanked the Chinese government for the strong and firm position of the Chinese government in the face of the new aggression by the United States government against Venezuela through the dispossession of the oil company CITGO Co.

“We want to express our gratitude to the Government of China for its firm rejection of the dispossession by the United States of our company CITGO, as well as for condemning the illegal sanctions that continue to affect our oil industry. Actions that seek to inflict damage on our country and criminally appropriate our resources,” said the government of Nicolás Maduro through the account of Foreign Minister Yván Gil on the social network X.

China opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and the United States' far-reaching jurisdiction against Venezuela and asks the Government of Joe Biden to stop interfering in Venezuelan internal affairs.

The spokesman for the Chinese government, Lin Jian, said on Tuesday that “the forced sale constitutes a new episode of the multifaceted aggression being carried out by the institutions of the United States against Venezuela.”

Lin Jian offered these statements at a press conference from the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he emphasized that the Beijing Government opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and the jurisdiction imposed by the United States on Venezuelan assets.
