President Nicolás Maduro emphasized that the Battle of Carabobo in 1821 represents the civic-military union that continues to this day.
“The victory of June 24, 1821 in Carabobo, is not only an act of war, it was an act of national union; Bolívar managed to bring together indigenous, Afro-descendant, peasant, white shore and Creole forces under the yellow, blue and red flag, our banner of victory, it was not an aristocratic army but eminently mixed race,” emphasized the Head of State.
In this regard, he added that this date is not just any anniversary due to the importance of this heroic feat for the future of the history of our country.
“Carabobo was the point of no return in our incessant history. We stopped being a colony because of a foreign empire and we dared to be a Republic, Gran Colombia all united, that's where our sovereignty was born,” said the president through a video broadcast on a national radio and television channel.
