On the night of Monday, August 24, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the country has made progress on the impact generated by social networks and social communication media due to the constant media campaigns that the people have faced and defeated.
He denounced that the entire strategy used on social networks, especially that of TikTok, is related to the so-called cognitive war.
“Social networks are neutralizing people's brains, especially young people. It is not a new topic; its impact has been evident since the appearance of television. If the human being individualizes himself at an extreme level and is only aware of what the trends, the algorithm tell him here and they capture you here with emotions, daily messages of various signs, the world powers that control social networks, you neutralize that human being. This is a topic that has been analyzed for 80 years, 100 years,” said the head of state.
He recalled that the press played a decisive role a few years ago, as on April 11, 2002, and emphasized that the government of the United States, specifically George W. Bush, and the government of Spain, were responsible for the coup against the Eternal Commander Hugo Chávez.
He denounced the harm that the use of social networks influences human behavior, society and the family. “Less screen more thinking, less screen more physical reading and reflection, less screen more introspection, reflection; less screen more prayer, less screen more human conversation,” he concluded.
