The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, thanked the winners of the National Culture Award on Monday for their contributions to rescuing the identity of the Homeland, in the face of attempts to impose culture from the North.
“I am not a chauvinist nor a false nationalist, in fact our formation is a human internationalist (...) I feel like our American citizen, I am just as much from Caracas as I am from Buenos Aires, Mexico or Brazil. To call oneself Bolivarian is to feel part of the American cause,” said the Head of State from the Miraflores Palace, during the presentation of the cultural award.
He stressed that “our culture is extraordinary, unique and wonderful, it is not compared to anything, it gives three kicks to what some people claim to be culture out there in the decline of the North, and you have been the ones who have been responsible for the rescue of our identity,” he said.
In this regard, he pointed out that Venezuelan cultors and cultures “have rescued, researching every rhythm, every letter, every meaning and you, in the time of the country absent, forgotten, abandoned, resisted with your singing, persevered so that another time would come and that time has come.”
The Dignitary urged us to do what needs to be done “so that our identity, our culture, our spiritual strength prevails over any difficulty, because this is a cultural battle”.
