The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro, urged the Community of Latin American and
Caribbean States (CLAC) this Friday to take a stand in the face of the genocide perpetrated by Israel
against the Palestinian People in the Gaza Strip.
From the city of Kingston, in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines,
where the 8th Summit of the regional bloc is being held, the head of state said
that he spoke with a group of presidents about the “serious situation of our sister
Palestine”, highlighting the diversity of opinions on the subject, “but the
truth is that more than 30,000 have died by bombing,
15,000 boys and girls by gun fire”, lament {o.
The Venezuelan dignitary questioned “Where are the
International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the bodies of international justice?
Or is it that they do not see or is it that they do not hear? I think that the concern of
millions of human beings on the planet and dozens of governments is valid for
our region to have a clear position and to accompany the citizens of the
African Union, the Arab League, the organization of the Islamic community and the
peoples of the world seeking and demanding a ceasefire already in Gaza, respect for
the lives of Palestinians”.
He also urged us to unite to ask “that Mr. (Benjamin) Netanyahu and
the fascist government
of Israel be investigated and brought to justice (...) we advocate understanding and the construction of a
humanist position within CELAC and within Latin America,” he said.
