Through the social network X, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated that the territory of Guiana Essequiba belongs to the country by historical right.
In this regard, he explained that since colonial times it has been reflected that the Essequibo is Venezuelan, specifically in six historical moments where “Venezuela has had international maps and documents that prove that this territory belongs to us, the right to Guiana Essequiba is the libertarian right against imperial dispossession, we established it as a sovereign land and achieved a political miracle, unification in a single national feeling,” he pointed out.
This Wednesday, President Maduro enacted the Organic Law for the Defense of the Essequibo, after its approval in the National Assembly (AN).
On December 3 , 2023, there was an overwhelming and historic victory in the Consultative Referendum for the Defense of the Essequibo, in which more than 10,500,000 Venezuelans participated, in which Venezuela's right to this territory was ratified.
