The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reiterated that the country will continue to irrevocably support the Palestinian struggle and its right to be an independent and sovereign State, on the eve of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

During his weekly program Con Maduro+, 91st edition, the National President carried out a historical and legal analysis of the conflict, stating: “Palestine has a problem of origin and conjunctural”. He explained that the original difficulty dates back to the UN decision to “take away their homeland from those who had occupied it for millennia, from the Palestinians, who until that day had lived in peace”.

However, the Head of State called for overcoming this original controversy, appealing to the international legal framework. “The UN, as an official resolution that is international law, decided, in the year 67, the boundaries of the State of Israel and Palestine, that must be respected,” he recalled, insisting on this aspect as the only way to peace, because it is non-negotiable.

President Maduro announced that September 23 will be “an historic day, because the world will tell Palestine that it has the right to be an independent state and to exist.”

He thus referred to the World Conference, at which 162 countries will sign a resolution recognizing the Palestinian State, an act of justice in which Venezuela proudly participates, having recognized the Palestinian State for many years. “There will be justice and the Arab world and the Muslim world will go to the liberation of Palestine,” he said.
