In his 40th “With Maduro +” program, held at the Miraflores Palace, the head of state, Nicolás Maduro, asserted that the signing of the Organic Law for the Defense of Guiana Esequiba is a constitutional, legal milestone and in compliance with the mandate of the referendum of December 3, 2023.
He indicated today that the historic position of Venezuela, in relation to the border dispute with Guyana, was presented before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague. “There are the historical documents”, so “Venezuela today presented all the documentation, the maps from 1777 and before, until now.”
“It's an impeccable, beautiful law, so it called on all Venezuelans to seek the law, to know the law, as well as to the country's schools, high schools, universities, military academies, military universities, military universities, the media and every Venezuelan who feels patriotic, because this is not a problem of you being a Chavista, an anti-Chavista, a child, this is a problem of Venezuela. Venezuelans have to cultivate unity and love for what is ours,” he said.
The head of the National Executive pointed out that this is the first time in the history of Venezuela and the world that a law has been made to turn a popular decision into a legal instrument of the country, with the rank of Organic Law.
“Popular sovereignty was convened, it was expressed in all its magnitude and from there five Sis emerged, which mark the path that Venezuela must follow for the recovery of its historical rights over our Guiana,” he said.
He recalled that the Cooperative Republic of Guyana was the creation of the British empire, “when Venezuela was stripped of part of its territory, it was the British empire that did it, a colonialist, predatory empire that enslaved the worst empires that have existed in human history in 8,000 years.”
“Guyana was born after the Geneva Agreement, which is a starting point that leaves behind everything else, the fraudulent, irritated and null Paris Award; and the Geneva Agreement recognizes that there is a controversy to be resolved, and our people understood it with a clarity unique in history,” he said.
As a reflection, he questioned: “And what have we done? Enact and execute it, so that an organic law is enforced to make history from now on.”
He also illustrated that “just as Guyana's political elites dedicated to ExxonMobil, subservient to the Southern Command and the CIA, just as they feel heirs to imperial-colonial dispossession, we are the legitimate heirs of that territory that is the legacy of the Liberators and Liberators, and Guiana Essequiba has always been Venezuelan,” he said.
