The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, during a meeting with high school and university students, called on this sector of society to give its opinion on how to regulate some social networks whose content is toxic and dangerous for Venezuelan youth.
“Board of Directors of the Venezuelan Federation of Middle Education Students headed by Luis Ángel Acosta García, the new President of FEVEEM, the Vice President, Sarah Tavera, and all the new leaders, elected by organized youth, I'm going to give you a task between now and Wednesday (November 27): I need you to help me make a decision about what should be done to regulate the content, as well as to social networks such as Tik-Tok that spread challenges that have cost the lives of two Venezuelan teenagers while others continue to be serious,” said the Head of State.
He also reiterated that he has opened a debate on the need for media regulation, at a time when a group of fathers and mothers also submitted an application for amparo to the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) on this issue of the pernicious content of these social networks.
“The CONATEL authorities have already contacted the TikTok representative in Latin America and they are acting, but we must act in several directions, including from high schools, you can raise awareness. In addition, to do a special task together with mothers, fathers and representatives, to campaign about how pernicious social networks are,” said the Head of State.
He considered that a center can be set up from the Ministry of Education for young people to report, immediately, about challenges that may endanger the integrity of students.
