This Wednesday, April 9, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, affirmed that it is of the utmost importance to promote economic actions, such as the right to development of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, but also one of a human and civilizing nature for migrants in the region.
In that sense, he emphasized that “it is time to stand up and build a single voice”.
“How much CELAC can do if we raise a common voice, if we are formed into a powerful block of opinion, with proposals, with common action,” she considered during her participation in the 9th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The head of state maintained that “they have tried to divide us so that one opines against the other, the other has no opinion, so that we shut up and everyone goes their own way to negotiate and talk, in silence, individually”.
He stated that the independence of the 21st century “is about to be built, only from our own efforts can it emerge (...) since we have nothing to hope for but from ourselves”.
“Today we repeat from Venezuela: we should expect nothing but from ourselves, Latin American, Latin American and Caribbean,” he ratified.
He assured that it is the only way to “be able to emerge this century with self-determination, with sovereignty, true freedom and with a powerful economic, social and moral base. Let it be the prelude to a new era.”
“A new era, not of colonization or new slavery, the dilemma of our America is not to become a colony again, it is not an option. The only option is to move forward together,” he said.
