President Nicolás Maduro argued that progressive forces in the region have the commitment and the opportunity to save regional integration mechanisms in the face of the divisive intentions of factors of the continental extreme right.
“We have to save CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States). There is an extremist right-wing operation by Milei, Noboa, Bukele. These are the Trojan Horses that act to divide Latin America and the Caribbean,” he warned.
In a special interview with the journalist and political analyst of Opera Mundi, Breno Altman, the head of state indicated that these representatives of the pro-imperialist extreme right want to dismember CELAC, just as they did with UNASUR (Union of South American Nations).
“In my opinion, if self-determination is respected as a principle, as well as sovereignty and if it is necessary to face the threats that have come to our continent, I am sure that we will carve a good path to save CELAC and promote joint development,” he said.
He added that those who believe in the union must act to implement “new initiatives of mutual cooperation, shared investment, trade and monetary interaction. Cultural and scientific integration!”
