The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, assured last Monday that President Donald Trump falsely accuses him of being linked to drug trafficking because during his term of office the New Granada Army will not participate in an invasion of Venezuela, calling it a senseless act to attack a sister town.

During an interview with journalist Daniel Coronell, the president said: “You're angry, Mr. Trump, that I don't support the Americans with the Colombian army to invade Venezuela. No, sir. What stupid Colombian can think of helping to invade where his cousins, his children, his Colombian people who number four million are, to be killed like in Gaza.”

“The same missiles that fall in Gaza fall into the Caribbean Sea near us”, and that a president must speak “with the dignity of humanity, not just of his people”.

The Colombian president criticized the foreign policy of the United States, comparing current actions with historical violations of international law: “Just as they have violated all international human rights treaties, built by wisdom, such that the United States is the main actor.”
