The growth of Venezuela's industrial sector is on the rise and so far in 2024, it has an average of more than 21%, said the president of the Venezuelan Confederation of Industrialists (CONINDUSTRIA), Luigi Pisella.
In an exclusive interview on the 360 program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, he specified that “the figure and as far as the industrial sector is concerned, is that we have had growth of 21% on average, there are sectors that have grown more, there are sectors that have grown a little less, but obviously we have growth in the industrial sector”.
Pisella recalled that, by the end of 2023, due to an issue related to inflation and despite the fact that the national economy grew steadily, the industrial sector registered a decrease of 4.3%.
He warned that in Venezuela, the economy and consumption grew in 2023, but the domestic industry resented, because it competes with imported products.
Currently, he stressed that the situation is different and when registering this growth compared to the same semester of 2023, “it is a notable improvement that the domestic industry, which is the one that competes with the whole world, has this growth by 2024.”
He also explained that the block performs periodic measurements in quantitative and qualitative aspects, to monitor the economy, growth and expansion of Venezuelan industrial activity.
In one of these figures, he revealed that the utilization of installed capacity, for this first half of 2024, stands at 40%.
“In terms of quality, we ask what you think or, with regard to the same semester, how is not only your company but also the country and its sector doing. In both responses, the industrialist expressed 64% that he had an improvement compared to that semester,” he said.
