This Thursday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, during a press conference, assured that the vast majority of the synthetic opioid fentanyl that is trafficked to the United States (USA) comes from outside her country.

“Many of the main precursors to the manufacture of methamphetamine, which has different ways of being produced, and even fentanyl, come from outside, the vast majority of fentanyl as such comes from outside,” said the head of state.

The Mexican president stressed that her country has seized this type of drug. “There are mainly fentanyl pills here, which are intended to be sold in Mexico or taken to the United States,” he also emphasized that there is no evidence that the drug is produced in Mexican territory.

Sheinbaum announced last December 4 that Mexican civil and military authorities seized more than one ton of fentanyl pills, valued at about 400 million dollars, in an operation in which they arrested two men and confiscated weapons.
