The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, rejected the imposition, by the United States (USA), of tariffs on domestic products and stated that her country advocates collaboration on an equal basis, without prejudice to its sovereignty.

Sheinbaum recalled that the United States imposed 25% tariffs on Mexican products despite the fact that both countries had a free trade agreement decades ago.

He also stressed that the tariff increase has effects for both countries, but very serious for the US economy, since it will increase the costs of products exported from Mexico to the United States.

The president denounced that the United States used as a pretext that Mexico allows fentanyl to pass through. In addition, he described it as very serious and irresponsible that the Donald Trump Administration justifies tariffs with the slander that the Mexican Government has alliances with criminal groups.
