“We have always declared and continue to declare that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of Palestine, and we are ready to fully assume responsibility for administration and security in the Strip,” said the president of the Palestinian National Authority, Mahmud Abbas, during a video message in the framework of the 80th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).
The first Palestinian authority emphasized that these actions of Israel's Zionism in the Gaza Strip constitute a crime against humanity. “We are not going to leave our land. The time has come for the international community to do the right thing with Palestine and put an end to the illegal Israeli occupation.”
Mahmud Abbas added that the Palestinian HAMAS movement should have no role in the administration of the enclave and stressed that "HAMAS and other factions will have to hand over their weapons to the Palestinian National Authority as part of a process to build the institutions of a State.”
“Palestine aspires to live in peace within the 1967 borders,” he said and urged all countries that have not yet recognized the State to do so.
