Poland will offer its territory for the deployment of North Atlantic Organization (NATO) nuclear weapons if allies make that decision, according to statements by President Andrzej Duda.

The media outlet Fakt explained that during his visit to New York, the United States (USA), the president confirmed that installing weapons of this type in Poland as part of the 'Nuclear Sharing' program “has been a topic of Polish-American talks for some time.”

In the context of the apparent need for this reinforcement, Duda recalled that “Russia is increasingly militarizing the province of Kaliningrad”, the Russian enclave in the Baltic bordering Poland, while mentioning the recent deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus.

“If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of 'Nuclear Sharing' also on our territory, with the objective of strengthening the security of NATO's eastern flank, we are ready to do so.”

For his part, the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, ruled that if these plans come to fruition, they will not go unanswered.

“The military, of course, if plans of this type are made, will analyze the situation and, in any case, will do everything necessary, all the necessary response to guarantee our security,” said the spokesman.
