On Tuesday, the president of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his participation in the 80th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), denounced the famine in Gaza and urged the international community to recognize the State of Palestine.
“No one in the world has ever seen bloodshed like that in the Gaza Strip. It's genocide,” said the Turkish president, while showing photographs of women in the Palestinian town.
In this regard, he called on all countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so as soon as possible. “Israel deliberately murdered 250 journalists in the Gaza Strip,” he said, adding that the “UN did not protect even its personnel in the Gaza Strip.”
“For 23 months, a child has been cruelly dying every hour in Gaza,” said the president and recalled that the number of victims of the Israeli genocide has been 65,000 in the Strip since the beginning of the Israeli attacks in October 2023 and 20 of them are minors.
“You don't kill only with weapons, but also with hunger,” and he warned that the massacres in Gaza, which he referred to as genocide, “also worry Jews, because they cause an increase in anti-Semitism around the world,” added the president.
