The President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, assured that the Central American nation is ready to build a canal to contribute to the passage of maritime transport at the international level.

“Passing through Panama is getting more complicated every day. Here is Nicaragua ready to contribute to that step that will make maritime transport and trade more fluid, and we invite you all. I am sure that even North American businessmen would be interested in the channel,” said Ortega during his speech at the XVII China-Latin American and Caribbean Business Summit, which is being held in Managua.

In this regard, the Nicaraguan president showed a map that reflects a new route for the construction of a 445 kilometer-long interoceanic road.

The contract for its construction was signed on November 18 between the Chinese company CAMC and the Nicaraguan Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, reports the Sputnik news agency.
