From his user on the social network X, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, requested the immediate meeting of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to address the situation.

He called for ICAO to convene an Assembly immediately. He argued that there is no authorization from the UN Security Council or the United States Senate to carry out military actions against the neighboring nation.

He also called for the preservation of international order and called on Latin America and the Caribbean to demonstrate without fear.

The president also addressed President Trump directly, asking him to return to respect for the international legal order. The Head of State of Colombia stressed that no airline should accept illegal orders over another country's airspace.

In addition, he asked the European Union to order the normalization of flights to Venezuela or to fine companies that do not do so, for the sake of binational agreements. In the same way, it asked all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean to restart their normal flights.

Petro reiterated that Trump's order is only legitimate for U.S. companies. In the case of Colombia, the president warned that companies that refuse to assume their agreed services and do not follow the instructions of the ICAO or the Colombian government must be sanctioned.
