President Putin invited his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolás Maduro to the BRICS meeting in October

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in
his capacity as current president of the BRICS group, invited his counterpart from
the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, to the BRICS Outreach/BRICS Plus meeting of the
leaders of the member states of the union, to be held in Kazan on 23 and 24 October next.
In the letter of invitation, released by Foreign Minister Yván
Gil, the Russian leader said that the participation of the Venezuelan Head of State “will enrich the next discussion, help identify promising areas of multilateral
cooperation for
the benefit of the world majority and, without a doubt,
will contribute to a greater progressive development of Russian-Venezuelan relations.”
“We believe that the above-mentioned meeting on the theme 'BRICS
and the Global South: Building a Better World' together will give a
constructive impetus to resolve the current problems of the regional and
global agendas, will favor the consolidation of collective efforts to
build a just and democratic system of international relations,” says the letter.
Recently, President Maduro assured that “Venezuela
is ready to become a strategic and reliable partner of the
BRICS group,” after expressing the interest of the South American country in being part of
this important economic block.
