President Putin: Russia-China strategic alliance is a stabilizing factor for the world

The President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, stressed that his country's cooperation and strategic alliance with the People's Republic of China is a stabilizing factor for the countries of the world.

“The strategic alliance between Russia and China acts as a stabilizing factor, since both countries are looking in the same direction when it comes to promoting a just and multipolar world order, supported by the countries that constitute the world majority,” he said during an interview with the Chinese news agency Xinhua, prior to his official visit to the Asian giant next week.

He also stated that “Moscow and Beijing share broad common interests and similar views on fundamental issues.” In addition, he said that “as two of the greatest powers in Eurasia, we cannot ignore the current challenges and threats, both at the scale of our continent and of the entire world,” he said.

The Russian president will pay a visit from August 31 to September 3 to China, where he will meet with several foreign leaders, including the host, Xi Jinping.

On Sunday, the Russian president will arrive in China and his visit will begin with his participation in the 25th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will take place from August 31 to September 1 in the city of Tianjin.

Then, he will head to the capital, Beijing, where he will hold a series of bilateral meetings, including the one he will hold with Xi Jinping; with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi; the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan; and the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian, among other leaders.

Later, as a special guest, Putin will attend the grand parade that will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression (1937-1945) and the World Anti-Fascist War, where he will sit on the right of his Chinese counterpart.
