The president in charge Delcy Rodríguez paid tribute to the Sovereign General of the People, Ezequiel Zamora, on the 166th anniversary of his death in San Carlos.
“We honor Zamora, who gave his life in defense of social justice, land and the rights of the people,” he said, evoking the song of Saint Agnes: “Oligarchs tremble. Long live freedom!” , Rodríguez said from his Telegram channel.
Ezequiel Zamora, born in Cúa in 1817, was the leader of the Liberal Party and symbol of the motto “Free Land and Free Men!” His participation in the Federal War and the victory in Santa Inés made him a leading figure in the peasant struggle. He died in 1860 in San Carlos, but his legacy remains an emblem of sovereignty and social justice.
