This Thursday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, through her account on the social network X, confirmed the new suspension of tariffs against the Aztec nation by the US president, Donald Trump.

“We had an excellent and respectful call in which we agreed that our work and collaboration have yielded unprecedented results, within the framework of respect for our sovereignty,” said the dignitary on the social network.

After the conversation, the head of state of the United States (USA), the Mexican president, asserted that they will continue to work together, particularly on issues of migration and security, including reducing the illegal crossing of fentanyl to the neighboring northern nation, as well as weapons to this Latin American country.

Previously, also on social media, Trump announced the pause until April 2 of 25 percent tariffs to Mexico for products covered by the free trade agreement between the three North American countries (T-MEC).

“As mentioned by President Trump, Mexico will not be required to pay tariffs on all those products within the T-MEC. This agreement is until April 2, when the United States will announce reciprocal tariffs for all countries,” Sheinbaum said.
