The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, confirmed that the landing of a Hercules C-130 aircraft of the United States Air Force at Toluca International Airport responded to training agreements authorized since last October.

Sheinbaum specified that the Secretariat of National Defense managed the arrival of the unit, which carried out bilateral logistical tasks regulated by the national security system, ruling out any exceptional nature or extraordinary military operation on Mexican soil. During her morning conference, the head of state emphasized that these exchanges are reciprocal, since U.S. troops also come to Mexico to train in programs such as Plan DN-III-E.

This collaboration is part of a security understanding signed in September and is in addition to recent agreements between Foreign Minister Juan Ramón de la Fuente and his counterpart Marco Rubio to strengthen the fight against organized crime.

The Government of Mexico reiterated that the use of the Toluca terminal, although unusual compared to traditional military bases, followed established protocols that seek to generate tangible actions in bilateral cooperation, maintaining respect for sovereignty and transparency in the professionalization activities of security forces.

This institutional response reaffirms Mexico's technical autonomy in the management of its air routes and guarantees operational continuity in the face of unilateral precautionary measures taken by Washington.

For her part, President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo confirmed that Mexico is an independent and free nation, urging us to remember the consequences of foreign interventions, such as the invasion of 1846, which resulted in the loss of half of the national territory.
